Dr. Mohamad Abou Houran is an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). He joined XJTU in 2020 through the Young Talent Program. His research focuses on power electronics, wireless power transfer (WPT), electromagnetics, renewable energy systems, and AI -driven optimization. He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of a National-level research project, a Shaanxi Provincial Key Research and Development Program, and an Entrepreneurship Fund Project, and has completed two national research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST).
Dr. Mohamad Abou Houran has published 70+ peer-reviewed papers, including 45+ SCI-indexed journal papers and 25+ first-author publications, with 4 ESI Highly Cited Papers and h-index of 25. He has also obtained authorized patents and filed multiple patent applications in the areas of wireless power transfer and electromagnetic technologies. In 2025, he was recognized among the World's Top 2% Scientists in the Stanford University–Elsevier ranking.
Dr. Houran is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine. He has served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member, Session Chair, and Invited Speaker at numerous international conferences, such as IEEE ICDCM 2025, IEEE ICDCM 2026, IEEE ECCE, and MEIE 2025. He is also a regular reviewer for leading international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE), as well as numerous other high-impact SCI journals and flagship IEEE conferences.
